Attendance
Our attendance lead is Mrs. Armstrong [Headteacher].
Attendance at school is crucial to your child’s education and development.
Should your child be absent from school for any reason, we ask that parents and carers contact us before 9.30 am on the first day of absence, to make the school aware. If you require any support with attendance, then please ask to speak with Mrs. Armstrong or a member of our Senior Leadership Team.
As part of our safeguarding procedures, if a child is not at school, and school have not received any notification of the absence, then a member of our team will telephone you to ensure your child is safe and has not wandered off on their route to school. If we are unable to make contact with families, then we may complete a home visit to ensure everyone is safe.
In order to keep families informed of their child’s attendance, each half term we will send home a summary of your child’s attendance. In keeping with the school’s staged attendance process, the summary should help you to identify if your child is on track to meet the DFEs recommended attendance target of 95%. We also provide a weekly attendance update by class on our school newsletter.
As part of our proactive attendance monitoring, we may contact parents to contact parents/carers to discuss how we may support them to help improve their child’s attendance.
For more information on our staged attendance procedures then please refer to our Attendance Policy located here on our policies page.
We recognise that occasionally children may need a leave of absence for an exceptional circumstance i.e. to attend events such as parents weddings or funerals. We ask that parents apply in writing using our Leave of Absence Form found on our ‘useful forms’ page.
Holidays during term time
The Department for Education [DFE] has ruled that Headteachers are no longer able to grant any absence during term time except under ‘exceptional circumstances’. We are therefore not able to authorise any holidays during term time, unless there is an exceptional circumstance as outlined in the DFE guidance.
We would like to remind parents that every school day counts and we would encourage parents to books holidays within recognised school holiday periods. Term dates are available on here.
