Values

Our school embodies the values advocated by our school’s community and provides the atmosphere for life in and beyond the school itself. It is a focus for the unity of values and purpose among the diversity of the members of the school community. It is rooted in the religious beliefs and values associated with the foundation of the school and reflects our school mission and vision.

Our core Christian values at Benedict Biscop C.E. Academy are:

  • Hope

‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord…plans to give you hope and a future.’ Jeremiah 29.11

At Benedict Biscop C.E. Academy we believe in having Hope and looking forward to a future that is full of promise and wonder.

  • Community
‘The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body.’ 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Koinonia means ‘that which is in common’ and is often translated as ‘fellowship’ or ‘community’.   At Benedict Biscop C.E. Academy we are very proud of our school community and believe that together we can achieve wonderous things.

  • Forgiveness

‘Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive others.’ Colossians 3.13

Jesus was uncompromising in his command to forgive. Forgiveness is not simply saying sorry and expecting everything to remain just as it was. Forgiveness needs to be asked for, but it is also recognising the impact of what has been done and making a commitment that it will not happen again. At Benedict Biscop C.E. Academy, we believing in rewarding our pupils and staff and also providing pupils with an opportunity to think about their behaviour and the behaviour of others is a restorative way, providing pupils with the opportunities to have restorative conversations and to learn from their actions.

  • Justice
‘Learn to do right. Seek justice.’ Isaiah 1.17

At Benedict Biscop C.E. Academy, we believe that there should be a clear culture built where we can all get along well, promoting responsibility towards others and being able to stand up for things that we perceive as being wrong or injust, looking out for our community and the world we live in.

  • Endurance

‘The Lord gives strength to those who are weary… Those who trust the Lord will find new strength. Isaiah 40:29-31

At Benedict Biscop C.E. Academy, we encourage all our pupils to strive for their best, to achieve their full potential, while acknowledging that this may not be an easy journey.  We celebrate pupils and staff’s achievements, both inside school and in their personal lives.

Helping children to realise their potential. Aspiring to excellence in all aspects of life
